PROGRAMME GOALS

SUPPORT AND ADVANCE
MISSION DRIVEN JOURNALISM

Working with our network of newsrooms to turn the credible science, data, and other specialised and complex information that provides the foundation for mission driven journalism into engaging and impactful stories that reach mainstream audiences and help bring about meaningful change through:

  • Access to Content Hubs providing redistributable reporting and reporting resources.

  • Membership of our network allowing you to make service and information requests.

  • Increasing the number of articles and reports published and republished.

  • Developing and implementing tools to such as ‘lift studies’ to measure and improve impact, such as increase in audience knowledge.

SUSTAINABLE FINANCIAL MODELS

Enabling news organisations and journalist to amplify mission driven journalism bringing it to new audiences through content adaptation and new distribution routes. We help mission driven journalism reach new audiences in new ways through:

  • Migration of mission driven journalism from being a niche topic, siloed inside the newsroom, to a mainstream position.

  • Increased volume of content published outside of traditional mission driven journalism environments.

  • Improved measurement of articles and reports published in non-traditional mission driven journalism environments.

COLLABORATION

Bringing together networks of newsrooms to bring mission driven journalism to the mainstream through sharing of ideas, resources, and tools that improve engagement and deliver more impactful content through:

  • New collaborations between newsrooms of all sizes from around the world covering similar aspects of mission driven journalism.

  • Production of more collaborative stories and reports, with greater reach and engagement.

MEDIA EDUCATION
AND MEDIA LITERACY

The information environment can be overwhelming and confusing, and audiences can suffer from information overload causing them to both disengage and lose trust. We will address these Infodemic symptoms by:

  • Making it easier to identify trustworthy sources of information.

  • Breaking down barriers between technical and specialist knowledge and engaging, accessible storytelling.
